Lahra is a California-based surrealist painter whose vibrant, dreamlike works explore the subconscious through richly layered abstraction and intricate detail.

Inspired by artists such as Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, and Yves Tanguy, Lahra has developed a distinctive visual language rooted in intuition, memory, and imagination.

Born into a multigenerational lineage of artists dating back to the 1800s—including renowned Polish Orientalist painter Stanisław Chlebowski—she began painting at the age of seven after experiencing vivid recurring dreams she felt compelled to translate onto canvas. She later studied Fine Arts at California State University, Northridge and continued her artistic training in Florence, Italy, and New York City.

Working primarily in oil, acrylic, and oil pastel, Lahra creates large-scale compositions built from thousands of meticulously rendered forms—organic, geometric, crystalline, and biomorphic elements that merge into immersive surreal landscapes through seamless color transitions and layered textures. She describes her process as “listening to the subconscious,” allowing intuition to guide each composition into emotionally charged dreamscapes.

Commercially active for the past five years, Lahra has produced over 100 original paintings to date. Her work is held in private collections internationally, with collectors in Tokyo, London, and New York, and her paintings range from approximately $3,500 to $85,000. Today, she works from her studio in Rancho Santa Fe, California, continuing to create bold, imaginative works that blur the boundary between reality and the unconscious mind.
